Make a No-Sew Felt Envelope to Store Valentine Greetings

Craft Ideas from a Fayetteville Mom

By Sarah E White, Our Daily Craft February 7, 2018

This little felt envelope is a larger, no-sew version of a felt envelope I made for my daughter a few years ago. That one contained crocheted hearts, but for this version, I added paper hearts with expressions of love on them.
This is a great project for those who feel like they aren’t crafty, because it requires few supplies and very few skills (cutting and gluing). You can easily make one in an hour – including drying time – and you’ll have a sweet gift for a kid, spouse or someone else special that they are sure to cherish.

Supplies
• One piece of pink felt or color of your choice
• Scraps of brown and red felt
• Scissors
• Fabric glue
• Peel and stick Velcro pieces
• Fabric marker or permanent marker of your choice
• Cardstock or paper for making hearts

Instructions
Fold the felt sheet into thirds. Apply fabric glue to the inside edges of the bottom two-thirds, fold together and put something heavy on it while it dries.
The top third becomes the flap of the envelope. Fold the envelope in half with the flap part sticking up, then cut into a triangle shape (folding in half ensures both sides of the triangle come out the same).

Apply peel and stick Velcro to the middle of the back of the envelope and to the flap so they line up. This will keep the envelope closed. Alternately, cut a small slit in the back of the envelope that the tip of the flap can slide into.

Cut out a square of brown felt and a heart shape. Glue the heart to the square and the square to the top right of the front of the envelope to make a stamp.

Cut a rectangle of brown felt large enough to write your child’s name on and glue to the center front of the envelope. Put something heavy on it while it dries.
Using a fabric or permanent marker, write your child’s or other recipient’s name.

Cut heart shapes out of cardstock or paper (or just use paper strips) and write some things you love about the person you are giving the envelope to. Pro tip: don’t want to freehand draw your hearts? Use a cookie cutter as a template.
