KATTAM AND HIS TAM-TAMS TAKE CHILDREN ON A MUSICAL ADVENTURE!
Music is the best passport to discovering the many cultures of the world! Join award-winning world music artist Kattam (and his monkey Takoum) on an entertaining and educational adventure as you learn about the instruments, song and dance of West and North Africa, the Middle East and India. This high-energy performance coming soon to Walton Arts Center will have your kiddos up on their feet clapping, grooving and singing along!
Kattam draws on his extensive experience with youth and family audiences to lead a percussion-based performance that is both wonderfully fun and delightfully instructive. Set to the sounds of the n’goni, balafon, djembe, naffar, derbouka and dhol, his original pieces place children front and center to watch, listen and, above all, participate! Kattam aims to foster a taste for music, discovery and self-expression among young people, leading them in celebrations specific to different cultures to show that beyond those differences lies a shared humanity.
