32 million people have food allergies, and 1 in 13 children suffer (foodallergy.org). Halloween is such a fun holiday for kids, but for those with food allergies, it can be challenging. Some of the most common food allergies include peanut, tree nuts, egg, milk, wheat and soy, all of which are common ingredients in most Halloween candy. Needless to say, children who suffer from food allergies have a hard time fully enjoying Halloween.
ABOUT THIS YEAR'S EVENT
The Be(A)ware Halloween event is the first and only allergy-friendly event in NWA. The goal is to create a fun, inclusive and safe place for all kids - food allergic and non allergic.
COVID has caused us all to experience change in our lives, especially our kiddos. Our goal is to provide a fun experience for kids and their families. This year, we will hold a drive-up trick-or-treat event just in front of Big Box Karaoke on Block Ave. in Fayetteville.
To help control the flow of traffic, please register for a time slot and the number of kids in your party. Decorate your cars and come in costume on Halloween to grab your allergy-friendly treat bag!
All volunteers will be using extra precautions when bagging treats. Volunteers will be masked up, with gloves on and sanitizing between handing treats to participants.
Participants will drive up to Big Box Karaoke stop briefly to be handed their treat bags, and take a quick car photo and move along.
Though it'll be different this year, we're still so excited and grateful to our partners and sponsors for providing fun and safe treats for kids!
